Kansai Gaidai University, in cooperation with MGM Japan, announced on February 22 the “KGU x MGM Education Program” course, which will be held online, for students of Hotel Management and Integrated Resort Services (IR).
The course will run for six days between March 2 and March 10, following on from the last course in February 2020 which saw students visit MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas to tour facilities and interact with employees working in the field. This year’s course will be online only due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to lectures on the use of human resources, eco-friendly businesses, and large-scale business events, students will also learn about MGM’s efforts to overcome COVID-19. The aim is to provide an in-depth understanding of the know-how of managing international service operations and the hospitality industry by exchanging opinions online with MGM Resorts employees around the world.
There are 22 students participating in the Hospitality and Service Industry Leader Development Program, established in the fall of 2018 to develop human resources to be involved in the future management of the hospitality industry in Japan and in abroad. It requires students to acquire fluency in English, as well as the knowledge and skills to work abroad by following business-related subjects such as marketing and accounting. Students are also offered a one-year study abroad opportunity at an English-speaking university, as well as internships in Japan.
