Carmarthen Round Table presented a check for £ 500 to the Cilgerran Children’s Service at Glangwili Hospital, along with a selection of bilingual educational books and toys totaling over £ 100 from the town’s Siop Y Pentan.

This donation will help support the Therapeutic Play Services team at Hywel Dda University Health Council.

Their services are vital within the local hospital and staff have had to adapt work practices to facilitate and support children, youth and their families during hospital admissions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Carmarthen Roundtable Chair Jonathan Griffiths said: “We initially received a letter from Frances Chester, who is one of Cilgerran Ward’s Therapeutic Play Assistants, asking for donations or help with purchasing games or resources, toys, clothing and sensory aids. .

“We as a roundtable were more than happy to be able to help the Glangwili team.

“We hope that our support will give them a much needed boost and allow them to continue the fantastic work they do at all levels to care for all children and young people during their stay in hospital.

“We would like to take this opportunity to send our best wishes to all who remain and are currently receiving treatment in the Cilgerran children’s ward and we especially want to thank all the NHS staff at our local health board for their hard work and their continued commitment.

“We hope our donation goes to help all children, youth and their families, making their stay in hospital a little more comfortable.”

We were overwhelmed by reading how the communities of Carmarthenshire are helping each other in these difficult times. We want YOU to share and shout out what you are doing for your neighborhoods.
