Airmen now have at their fingertips the ability to receive credit for learning another country’s culture while simultaneously responding to the Air Force Chief of Staff’s action order. to understand the country’s strategic competitors.
This can be achieved by accessing the latest version of the Air Force Cultural and Linguistic Center’the Air Force Culture Guide app.
Howard Ward, Director of the AFCLC, unveiled version 2.0 of the app to a virtual audience on October 15, the last day of the 2021 Virtual University Language, Regional Expertise and Culture Symposium. air.
Ward described the updated app as a one-stop-shop for accessible, relevant, and impactful curriculum in addition to culture field guides.
“It’s a delivery method that can deploy the program enterprise-wide, free from the constraints of government systems, which is especially ideal for total force Airmen, and it’s designed to accelerate learning for strategic competition by putting the AFCLC’s ‘world class’ right in your pocket,” he said.
Shortly after its initial release in 2017, The Wall Street Journal recognized the original version as one of six must-have apps for business travelers.
Changes to the original app include:
Better accessibility to AFCLC Expeditionary Culture Field Guides – Users no longer need to download any of the 69 guides to view their content. Touch the block containing the name of the guide to open it. In addition, seven new ECFGs are on the way.
Accelerated learning for strategic competition – Tap the Course button at the bottom of the screen to display the first new course. Cultural Competency Development is designed to guide the user on what culture is, why it matters, and how users can learn more about it as they progress through their careers. Two other courses will soon be available. These courses will enable each service member to attain the position of Air Force Chief of Staff General CQ Brown, Jr.it is Action Order C: Competition individually by learning the fundamentals of the culture for understanding the adversary. Upon completion of these courses, users will receive a certificate ready to upload to their learning folder, if applicable.
A video library will soon be available to further enhance on-the-go learning capabilities.
The app is available through the App store and google play, and it is safe for MoD mobile devices. Over 20,000 people are already using the app, and for those people an automatic update to version 2.0 is now available.
